Praised for her “striking visual presence” and “glorious voice”, mezzo-soprano Madeleine Lyon is enchanting audiences on the operatic stage. She is a recent graduate of the Domingo-Colburn-Stein Young Artist Program at the Los Angeles Opera, where she was seen in El último sueño de Frida y Diego by Gabriela Lena Frank, as well as Zemlinsky’s Der Zwerg. Also with Los Angeles Opera, Ms. Lyon performed as Alisa in Lucia di Lammermoor in a new production co-produced with the Metropolitan Opera, Bianca in The Rape of Lucretia, Genevieve/Yniold in Impressions of Pelléas, Bithia in Moses by Henry Mollicone, and covered the role of Cherubino in Le nozze di Figaro. Most recently, she covered the role of Lorca in Ainadamar and sang Giovanna in Rigoletto with LA Opera. She also sang as Margravine/Angel 2 in Snider’s Hildegard with Aspen Opera Theater and covered Frida Image in El Último sueño de Frida y Diego at the Metropolitan Opera. In the 2026-2027 season, Madeleine will make a house and role debut as Gertrude in Hänsel und Gretel with Shreveport Opera.
