Nathan SAVANT

Praised as a “charismatic bass-baritone” with “vocal power,” Macanese-American bass-baritone Nathan Savant is earning recognition for his commanding presence and vocal versatility across traditional and contemporary repertoire (Time Argus News, Chicago Classical Review). In the 2025-2026 season, Mr. Savant joins Palm Beach Opera as an Apprentice Artist where he will sing Customs Officer in La bohème and Usher in Rigoletto. He will also cover Benoit/Alcindoro and Colline in La bohème, Nourabad in Les pêcheurs de perles, and Monterone and Marullo in Rigoletto. In the summer of 2025, Mr. Savant joined Opera Theatre of Saint Louis as a Gerdine Young Artist, where he covered Snug and Theseus in Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Milton in the world premiere of Ricky Ian Gordon’s This House. He also appeared in the Center Stage concert with the St. Louis Symphony under the baton of Daniela Candillari. Upcoming engagements include Magnifico in Cinderella with Salt Marsh Opera and playing the role of Frosch and covering Falke in Die Fledermaus with Inland Northwest Opera. On the concert stage, he will sing as the bass soloist in Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 with the Boston University Symphony Orchestra.

Mr. Savant spent two seasons as a resident artist with Opera North, where he performed Guglielmo in Così fan tutte, Marchese d’Obigny in La traviata, John Styx in Orphée aux enfers, the Wolf and Rapunzel’s Prince in Into the Woods, and Count Monterone in Rigoletto. In the summer of 2023, he joined Chautauqua Opera Company to cover Escamillo in La tragédie de Carmen and sing the Young Man in a workshop of Rene Orth’s chamber opera Love, Loss and the Century Upon Us. In the 2022-2023 season, Mr. Savant sang Doctor Bartolo in Il barbiere di Siviglia with Chandler Opera Company and Pinellino in Gianni Schicchi with Festival Napa Valley. In concert, Mr. Savant sang as the bass soloist in Beethoven’s 9th Symphony with the Albany Symphony and in Händel’s Messiah with the Assabet Valley Mastersingers.

While a member of the Boston University Opera Institute, Mr. Savant sang Riolobo in Florencia en el Amazonas, Pandolfe in Cendrillon, the title role in Gianni Schicchi, Jonathan in Siren Song, and the Baritone in Hydrogen Jukebox. He also sang Papageno in Die Zauberflöte, Marcello in La bohème and Putnam in If I Were You while at Northwestern University for his Masters in Voice and Opera.
