Eliza BOOM

Soprano Eliza Boom is known for her luminous full lyric soprano voice with noted successes as Fiordiligi (Così fan tutte) and Vitellia (La clemenza di Tito), as well as in Strauss’s Four Last Songs. Eliza is a current member of the Hamburg Staatsoper Ensemble, where she will be singing roles such as Micaëla (Carmen) and Jungfrau (Das Paradies und die Peri).

Ms. Boom trained at the National Opera Studio London and the Royal Northern College of Music following her undergraduate studies in her home nation, New Zealand. Eliza has garnered awards at several international competitions, including winning the Elizabeth Connell Prize and Joan Sutherland and Richard Bonynge Bel Canto Awards. She is also a prize-winner of Operalia and the International Stanisław Moniuszko Vocal Competition.

In 2020 she joined the Bayerische Staatsoper Opera Studio in Munich, singing roles such as Woglinde (Das Rheingold), Erste Dame (Die Zauberflöte), High Priestess (Aïda) and Berta (Il barbiere di Siviglia).

Since then, Ms. Boom has performed frequently as a guest artist throughout Europe. In previous seasons, Eliza has made debuts at the Opéra national de Paris as Freia (Das Rheingold); Staatsoper Stuttgart as Gretel (Hänsel und Gretel), Pat Nixon (Nixon in China), and Woglinde (Das Rheingold and Götterdämmerung); at the Royal Danish Opera as Vitellia (La clemenza di Tito); at Staatsoper Hannover as Pat Nixon (Nixon in China) and Katerina (The Greek Passion); at the Badisches Staatstheater singing Fiordiligi (Così fan tutte); as well as returning to the Bayerische Staatsoper as a guest artist in various supporting roles.

She regularly performs concerts with orchestras such as the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra (Vier letzte Lieder), Badische Staatskapelle (Mahler 2. Sinfonie and Zemlinsky Lyrische Sinfonie), and New Zealand Symphony Orchestra. In 2022 she sang the world premiere of Buch der Körper by V. Žuraj, a piece for chamber orchestra and soprano, conducted by Vladimir Jurowski.

Ms. Boom holds both an International Artist Diploma and Master of Music in Performance from the Royal Northern College of Music.
