Described as a “shining presence” (Seen and Heard International), soprano Alaysha Fox is quickly making her mark in the world of opera. In the upcoming season, she will sing as a soloist in Indivisible with Muse-ique and will make a return to Opera Santa Barbara to sing Nedda in Pagliacci. She recently made her house debut with Opera Maine singing the High Priestess and covering the title role in Aida, and sang as a soloist in Verdi’s Requiem with La Sierra University.
Highlights of recent seasons include a return to LA Opera as Catrina in El último sueño de Frida y Diego, her debut at Bard SummerScape singing Lady Clarence in Saint-Saëns' Henry VIII, and joining the roster of the Lyric Opera of Chicago as the cover for Elisabeth de Valois in Don Carlos. On the concert stage, she was a featured soloist at the 30th Anniversary Gala for Opera Santa Barbara and the Hemmings Gala with LA Opera, joined Midamerica for Marc-Andre Bougie’s Magnificat, was the featured soloist in Palm Spring Opera Guild’s Opera in the Park series, and presented a recital celebrating Black History Month with African Americans for LA Opera.
Ms. Fox recently concluded her tenure with the Domingo-Colburn-Stein Young Artist Program at LA Opera, where she sang notable roles including the Female Chorus in Britten's The Rape of Lucretia, the High Priestess in Verdi's Aida, Mary in the world premiere of Carla Lucero’s The Three Women of Jerusalem, and Dorothée in The Anonymous Lover, and covered Mimì in La bohème. Other recent credits include portraying the Bridesmaid in Le nozze di Figaro with Santa Fe Opera, Giorgetta in Il tabarro with Opera Santa Barbara, Lady Macbeth in Bloch's Macbeth with MSM Opera Theatre, and Erstes Mädchen in Hindemith's Mörder, Hoffnug der Frauen with the LA Philharmonic.
Ms. Fox was a finalist in the Loren L. Zachary Competition in both 2021 and 2022, claimed first place in the Palm Springs Opera Guild Competition in 2021, and was a finalist in the 2020 HGO Concert of Arias. Ms. Fox was a Grand Finalist in the 2019 Metropolitan National Council Auditions and a semi-finalist in the Elizabeth Connell International Singing Competition, and received the Lotte Lenya Emerging Artist Award and first prize in the Alan M. and Joan Taub Ades Vocal Competition at Manhattan School of Music.
Ms. Fox has held young artist tenures with Santa Fe Opera, Chautauqua Opera, and Opera Saratoga, and holds a Bachelor of Music and a Master of Music from the Manhattan School of Music.
